Today, I had the pleasure of having dinner with the resident food reviewer, Q, and the master of Kuwait blogs, Nibaq, at Edo. This dinner was organized to see if we can give reviews ala Q. So Each one will write a review on the food, and I am curious to see if we all think alike, or have different views on the place. You can judge which post fits best with your experience at Edo, assuming you know where the place is.Edo is a Japanese restaurant located in Al-Sha'eb. The entrance is nicely designed with tables outside, leading to the restaurant. Once in, you see a sushi bar, tables on right and left. The tables have good spacing. I am a person who likes space, hence, space was good for me. The seats were comfortable and my ass and back where comfortable for eating. Very important lesson people, when your ass is comfortable, you stomach is more ready for eating.
The design of the place, colorwise, is an aqua green color, which gives you a tranquil feeling. The music was some sort of light trance music (I know the exact name but cannot think of it, acid jazz maybe, Q?), which was also good for digestion.
We ordered first some appetizers, which consisted of chicken yakatori, seafood dumplings, and some beef. The beef was excellent, tender and lean, with a nice sauce. The dumplings were filled with some sort of sea food (I have no clue what), but it tasted ok. The yakatori was average, I have tasted better. I think the missing part is some form of sugar or maybe alcohol in the making.
The food itself consisted of different kinds of sushi rolls. I cannot say which one was my favorite, but I liked it. The rice used in the rolls was good, the rolls were well prepared and the ingredients were also fine to taste.
For dessert, I had a chocolate pudding, which was ok, then again I am not a big chocolate expert, so I am not sure how it would compare to better types, but it was fine.
The service was ok, quiet and humble. What would be nice is if the staff wore traditional Japanese attire, and more Japanese art would be hanging in the place. That would give it a special flavor.
I will not comment on price as I did not pay, but I have a ballpark idea, hence, it is included in the rating.
So in conclusion, here are the results of the Purgatory vote:
