I saw this film yesterday on tv, it was made in 1996, but what a nice comedy. It is a comedy on the subjects of abortion, fanaticism, and personal responsibility. Ruth Stoops is the glue-sniffing, child-neglecting, gutter-inhabiting poster girl for the worst possible impulses of her generation, in short what Americans refer to as white trash.
Ruth is played by Laura Dern, a yummy actress, especially with those long long legs ;)(just look at them legs, the things I could do to them!)

and is picked by the cops (seems she is a regular to them) and is taken for stomach pump and stuff when they find out she is pregnant. She is then jailed for endangering her fetus, but is taken out by a pro-life family.
Later on she is taken away by pro-choicers, including a couple of lesbians who sing hymns to the moon goddess. Then it becomes even more interesting. I will not say much about it, but it is definitely worth a see. The ending is also nice
The movie is directed by Alexander Payne, also famous for the films election and about Schimdt. I am sure you can find details online or maybe want to rent or watch the movie. Go see it, including you N.
