The Kroket is one of the few Dutch forms of fast food. The Dutch do not have a world wide cuisine, and concentrate on basic things from vegetables, potatoes, and meat (mostly cooked medium well). Now, the kroket is a nice distraction from the daily routine, yet it is considered fast food of course, because it is fried in oil, similar to fries. The best krokets can be bought from the main supermarket chain, Albert Hein. This was verified by a local show called the Smaak politie, or the taste police. They go and check places for hygiene, how food is prepared and one of the features of the show is to take items from the super market, cook them, or prepare them, and give judgments.
The best kroket type is made with veal, but beef and chicken is also good. Varkenvlees is pork, so that is one type you should not have.
As they say here, eets smaaklijk (ya3ni bel3afya).
