I was driving back home when I remembered this movie . I saw it last year, and I was very interested in the character developed by Sean Penn. I am sure many of you have seen the movie, maybe not many of you understood it, but the movie is a very strongly directed movie with great acting as always by Sean Penn. Come to think of it, once he left Madonna, he got better, no wonder Guy Richie is doing bad.
Anyways, I do not know what brought back this movie to my mind, but there is a bit of truth in that character which is essential for human (ugh ugly word) existence. All humans are weak, all humans will never achieve the true essence of their creation, and all humans will die trying, some in a blaze of glory, some without any mention.
Humans think life is about living, about enjoying it, and about being wealthy, healthy, funny, creative, sad, angry, depressed, poor, and many more states and emotions, but what is the essence of life? None, only a vivid imagination that life has a purpose.
Humans always want to feel that they have a purpose, they refuse to be compared to other living beings on this planet, and want to be the dominant form of life in this planet and in some cases, this universe. Space invaders, conquerors of the universe, they think they own this vast space and galaxy, but do they?
I think I went away from the real purpose of this post, into some dark purgatorian dimension, so let me get back on track.
The movie is directed by Neils Mueller, and it was his first film as director, and it was a powerful movie. Now before you go and say he is the next Wolfgang Petersen, just a small tidbit, he also wrote the screenplay for 13 going on 30, so I leave the judgment up to you.
For those who have not been fortunate to see this movie, get it. For those intrigued by the other stuff I mentioned, maybe one day my true intentions will be revealed, but until then, you have to be content with what you know, or think you know.
