Recently some NFL coaches have started wearing suits again, designed by Reebok. While a Reebok suit might not be an Armani suit, it is still well designed and fashionable to be worn on the side lines. For example, last night Jack Del Rio of the Jacksonville Jaguars wore a suit and looked better than he did in shorts or sports attire, his atiitude also projected on the players who won the game. San Francisco are winning again and playing hard, not only because they have star players on offense like Alex Smith and Frank Gore, and that tight end they took in the draft, but also because their coach Mike Nolan has changed the image of the team in his second year, bringing discipline and doing so with his stylish suit.
I must admit seeing these coaches in suits on the sidelines reminded me of the Golden days of the NFL, when men were men and coaches were generals, unlike today where men are pussies crying over every touch and pointing at each other like little kids and coaches are laissez-faire, dressing as if they were at home just out of bed in slacks. Football is a professional sport and the coaches and players alike should act and behave that way. I applaude the decision to allow coaches to wear suits and hope this trend continues.
Just for your information, here are pictures of Mike Nolan, Tom Landry and Hank Stram as examples of the men of Golden Years and the present.
