We all know the Oryx is one of those protected animals in Qatar and has a long heritage in the Arabian Penninsula. The choice of the Oryx could have been a wise choice and having it as a mascot sounds suitable, but the idea of a big Oryx with a fire torch brings images of Paganism and Masonic gods to my mind. The idea of a big statue symbolzing an animal is a big mistake also, in such a region. We all remember the stone gods of old, and how those were destroyed when we were shown the light, so why go back to such an image? Why hasn't anyone raised their objection for having this huge statue! Are Masons involved in this plot?
As you see from the images, the horned goat in this case is a very similar to the oryx.

I think this idea of goat gods did not even cross the minds of the organising committee, who have worked very hard on making these games a success, and I have no doubt it will be, but I wish someone paid attention to this part and I hope no one does the same in the future in tournaments organised in the Gulf.
