Ever since I came back, I have lost my desire to cook or think of creating dishes gradually. I did that for a while when I was involved with the mandate, but ever since I have been a lazy bum and without any inspiration. All of a sudden, my mind has started working again, and I have been creating dishes one after the other, with more developing in my head. Now I have not moved my bum to cook, but I give the cook exact instructions on what to make and how to place things. We have a good cook, and many of my friends like her food, even though she is not a cook by profession. Many of them have been around me when I call and ask for specific things in specific order or manner regarding food. For example, Pastrami Sandwich with mustard and pickles. Most will just say that, but I say the following:
"Get two pieces of bread, not too big, not too small, two slices Pastrami, and add a little mustard, on one side, not both, then cut at 45 degrees angle, and choose one pickle only and place it next to sandwich, not on top, not inside."
The past few days I have asked her to do the following:
1) Kung Pao chicken, easy recipe, but done with a secret sauce, and do not ask about it, I will not tell.
Mom loved it reminded her of something she ate in Bahrain in 1991. This was my reaction: @@ !!!!
2) Fish dish with rice, and following are my instructions to her:
"Get that fish pieces we have and cut in half, then flour and cook, place aside, then make a white sauce with coconut milk sauce, hot chilli, fried onions, place aside, fry some potatoes cut into slices, then layer fish below, potato and then pour sauce on top and place in oven just to keep warm. Rice is with dry dill and black eyed peas (London London Bridge, that is just me singing to myself)"
This dish turned wonderful, my sister, the bad parker who has not done it again since she has been exposed to the world, enjoyed it and had seconds, which is rare.
3) Meat dish with rice, with following instructions:
"Get lamb meat with bones, and use a brown spicy sauce (any kind works, mostly these are indian sauces sold at grocery) and add garlic cloves, lots of them, then cook, and add cabbage on top without cooking and place in oven to stay warm. Make rice with tomato and tomato paste and on top add the following in three different layers, but not mixed together, raisens, fried onions and almonds slices. I do not want them touching at all!"
The dish was excellent again, though I had perfered if she added more cabbage, so next time I will give better instructions.
As you see I am creative again, must be the cold, and I have asked for items from the grocery so that I can create more dishes, but they are still developing in my mind, matter of fact one is starting to get shape as I write this post.
Are you hungry?
