what i understand is the new LCD's are better then plasmas. But Plasmas are better then older model LCDs.

make your life easy, just get a sony.

Mark, which store, and how much would it cost on average?

Purg

البلازما أوضح من الأل سي دي, أو مثل ما يقولون
more crisp color

لكن البلازما فيها عيب واحد, العمر اللإفتراضي للشاشة, وهو يعتمد على عدد ساعات التشغيل

regarding brands, and based on my personal experience, Panasonic is the best, but LG or Samsong are great too, and cheaper

You ask too many questions .. just get a LCD.

after shopping around for a while, I tend to agree with Lamya'a on the issues of value ofor money:
Panasonic *
LG
Samsung

the larger the screen, the less clarity.

Also, in shops they have all these high definition tapes they play that make you go ooh and aah.

But get the TV home, and you realize that most TV's are the same if we still don't have broadcasting in high definition. Of course if you only use a TV to watch high definition DVD's then it is another story.

Anyway don't buy now....wait till May sales begin because prices are dropping drastically everywehre

It's a matter of taste and use, actually. For what you'll be using it? Because to each its own pros that cover the cons.

For example:

LCD - Pros: Better for still images, lasts longer, burns in stripes or dots.
LCD - Cons: Can't handle fast motion as good as Plasma (traces appears with motion), can't render black (it looks dark grey), vulnerable screen surface (plastic), expensive compared to Plasma, smaller sizes than Plasma.

Plasma - Pros: Great for fast motion scenes (i.e. Football), comes in huge sizes (reached +100"), relatively cheaper than LCDs, sold screen (glass), renders black way better than LCDs.
Plasma - Cons: Can't handle still images = static burn, burns down as a whole, color blurness caused by the gas in the screen, doesn't last as long as LCDs (approx 4 years top).

Now for me, I would go for LCD, Sony Bravia to be exact, why?
Because my main use will be connecting it to my Mac (static image).

For Plasma Panasonic or nothing.

I did some research to answer this question for myself recently. I ended up going with a 42" Westinghouse LCD. I am 100% happy with it. Check out my LCD vs Plasma comparison posted on my blog:

so what did you and what did you buy .?
cause i wana buy a tv now and i dont know what to buy !!
Purgatory said in July 27th, 2007 at 10:31 am
I bought a samsung LCD, but one thing I did not pay attention to was that I cannot get PIP without HDTV, so would not work with Satellite and Orbit boxes for examples. Besides that The Tv is good, size is fine, picture is good and rotates good. So only other thing I recommend you check is that if you want PIP, that it works on normal non HDTV connections.

i got lost .. but i found the Hitachi to be good :
http://www.hitachiconsumer.com/sg/products/proddetails.aspx?pid=1809&cid=629&tid=71

its just dont have PIP ... and its made in japane and cheap . only 369 KD

what do you think ... which is better ?
Purgatory said in July 27th, 2007 at 12:12 pm
I am not the expert, looks reasonable price for that size, but the term made in Japan is no longer valid, as parts come from everywhere, so makes no difference. Just go with something that fits your budget and has your needs, model and type should be insignificant,. however if you want high-end stuff, best talk to Marzouq.
