I finally managed to see RollerBall (1975) starring James Caan, directed by Norman Jewison, who also did many great movies such as the Cincinnati Kid (1965) and In the heat of the night (1967) among others. The original Rollerball movie (not the horrible remake of 2002) is set in futurisitic times where cooperations rule the world and the game of Rollerball being a regular pastime or work. James Caan is the lead sports figure who is forced to end his career because the board of directors "want" that. The movie has many connecting themes to cult classics such as Fahrenheit 451, and while many would suspect the main thing in the movie would be RollerBalling, the major part of the movie is actually made of very well scripted conversations and thoughts.
The main thing that got me thinking was the notion of corporations ruling the world and not countries, which is where we can be heading to in 50 years. We have seen how the tribal concept of countries and nations is crumbling and the boundaries which the previous occuption of major countries is also crumbling, paving the way to more unrest and confusion in the world. We do not even have proper world leaders today, we do not have strong Men to lead their nations, women have made the man of today weak with their evil seductive ways.
The Powers who created the world will not let this continue and affect their main target, which is to make money and continue to rule the world, so eventually, the covert shift of the world (i.e. Globalization) can turn into a normal part of our lives which we have no control , and Bill Gates the fifth can be our world leader (I wonder if Bill Gates has 666 under that hair of his or if his name is really Bill, hmm Damien).
I recommend that you watch RollerBall and maybe also check some of the director's other movies (several Oscar winners in them), if you have not seen them.
