I just finished watching this movie by Akira Kurosawa, which is a masterpiece of direction, sound and acting. Note that this film was made in the early 60s, before such stories would have been adapted so beautifully for the big screen. The movie is set in two parts, but the story is about a Japanese executive who has to pay the ransom for the kidnapped kid of his driver (mistaken for his own son). The movie shows a clever side of detectives, before Americans classics such as Kojak and CSI.
This early Kurosawa movie shows some of his magical fantastical visions he later adapted in movies such as Dreams and the way the story unravels over the 143 minutes is amazing. While the movie is set in Black and White, the use of color was also adapted in one scene, which was interesting, for a B&W movie, and it sure would have captivated the audiences at that time to see color in B&W.
When you first see the movie, you start thinking of the Movie Ransom for Mel Gibson, but the story is much different as it moves ahead. It is one of the classics that must be seen and is available as a torrent.
Another movie I watched last night was Death Race 2000, very interesting 70's movie, worth a watch if you like odd movies. No need for review on this film, you can check information on IMDB, or Wiki. Note a remake of the movies will be released later this year.
