Yesterday I finished this book, which has been laying in my bookshelf for over two years. I started reading it when I first bought it but got confused, but I decided to read it since I had finished the other books I had read, and I should have read it before!! It is an amazing book.
This was the first book written by Chuck, before Fight Club, but was not released because of the contents of the book, which were considered to be too disturbing. The book is written in a way that it jumps back and forth between the incidents, but slowly it gels together towards the end. It starts with the murder of Brandy Alexander in the Wedding of Evie Cottrel, and next to Brandy is our protagonist, which remains nameless until the end. The 296 pages are filled with interesting chapters, especially the ones which involve the parents and their discussions with our main character during holidays. The twists in the story are unbelievable, which makes you go OMG 1000 times! especially if you read it before going to bed and wake up the next day wanting to know what happens.
The title is confusing at the start, and you wonder if he means the main character or one of the other characters, but as you read more, you discover who the real invisible monsters are. The story is laden with many references to fashion and decor items, which can be amusing to ladies, but also add to the mystique of the story. You might think you know who the people are in the story, but trust me, you never know, it changes and changes, and hmm, I will just let you find out.
It is now one of my favorite books and a must read.
