I started reading the latest Chuck Palahniuk book, Snuff, and here are some tidbits mentioned so far from the first few chapters. For those who read his books, you know that the tidbits he mentioned are based on his research on the subject.

Did you know that Hitler invented the blowup doll? Hitler was upset that his soldiers used to go to brothels and sleep with non Aryan race females, so he came with the concept of the blowup doll, which was blond and white. He ordered that each soldier be supplied with a blow-up sex doll in his rucksack, so as to take care of his "sexual needs"The plan was only dropped after the Allies bombed the Dresden factory that was to make them.

There was another interesting tidbit on babies and stuff they do in the womb, but I will not mention it here, or maybe mention it later ;p

So far, so good.

I managed to finish over the weekend the 270 pages of City of Ember by Jeanna DuPrau, which was recommended to me by Angelo a while back. The Book is the first in the Ember Series and is basically for young people, mostly teenagers or young kids, but still enjoyable as a quick read. I found it to be fascinating and intriguing, and have requested the other installments in order to get the full story of Ember.

Next on the list is Snuff, latest Chuck book :)

I finished my last Chuck Palahniuk book, Survivor, yesterday. Its publishing was delayed because of 9/11, as the main character Tender Branson dies at the end after he hijacks a plane and crashes into Australia. OK, don't hit me, you will read that in chapter 1, however, chapter 1 is not the beginning of the book, it is the ending. Confused? I was.

When I first started reading, I was confused by the way it was written and the story seemed to go backwards. Then I checked online and found out that the story starts at chapter 47 at the end! Now, frustrated, I left the book aside and finished other books, then went back to it when I had nothing else to read. After I finished it, I was not quite sure if he actually died or not. Confused? I still am. (There are clues online after you finish reading if you want to find out on Chuck Palahniuk website on his death or survival).

After finishing all books for Chuck Palahniuk (his new one will be sent to me soon), I think his best work is still Invisible Monsters, followed by Haunted and Rant. Fight Club is still a classic of course. The rest are more or less readable, but just not quite Palahniuky enough for me.

However, overall the book is ok, worth a read, and has some nice tips on cleaning, which according to the author, he researches before publishing, as with the other stuff he mentions in his other books.

Make sure you read from chapter 47, not from chapter 1. Hmm, the announcer said the word Tender on TV! coincidence??
