I finished three more movies, Good night and Good Luck, Walk the Line, and Where the Buffalo roam. The first two are well known to most, especially since they are recent, while the last one is special, and I will talk about it later.
I did not enjoy the first two, they were plain and too Hollywood to me. The story line, the direction, the acting, everything did not appeal to me. Luckily I had the last one on DVD, which I bought together with the Criterion Edition of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Where the Buffalo roam is based on the experiences of
Dr. Hunter Thompson , starring Bill Murray and Ed Boyle. It was made in 1980, and I have to admit that I never heard of the movie back then, maybe because it was not mainstream, or as our good friend might say, mainstream is nothing
Anyways dear readers, as I was saying, the movie is based on Hunter Thompson's experiences and for those of you who have followed my blog, you would know by now that he is one of my favorite writers, and I posted a couple of posts on him
here ,
here ,and
here.
The film is done in a fashion that you would associate with a book by Dr. Thompson, and this one is a wild one indeed. I must say I liked Johnny Depp better in the role of the Doctor in the Fear and Loathing movie, but Bill Murray is not that bad at all. After all, Bill Murray is a brilliant actor, one of the best in the business, he can do comedy and drama and has a natural talent, unlike many of those who are considered movie stars these days.
I doubt any of you can get a copy by torrent, maybe someone can find a DVD, but if you liked Fear and Loathing, you should get this DVD (its about 10 bucks on Amazon) and enjoy it on a lazy day.
One last note, I wanted to watch Munich, but I download the French Screener version, and French to me is like all that
Voulez-vous couchez and all that stuff! kind of language, so suzie me, thank you. I am downloading the Spanish Guy version, viva Zalata!
